Morning
Prayer
In
the morning when you get up, make the sign of the holy cross and say:
In
the name of the Father and of the T Son
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Then,
kneeling or standing, repeat the Creed and the Lord's Prayer. If you
choose, you may also say this little prayer:
I
thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son,
that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray
that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that
all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend
myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with
me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
Then
go joyfully to your work, singing a hymn, like that of the Ten
Commandments, or whatever your devotion may suggest.
Reading
Leviticus 1:1–17
1The
Lord called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying,
2“Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When
any one of you brings an offering to the Lord, you shall bring your
offering of livestock from the herd or from the flock.
3“If
his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male
without blemish. He shall bring it to the entrance of the tent of
meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord. 4He
shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be
accepted for him to make atonement for him. 5Then he shall
kill the bull before the Lord, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall
bring the blood and throw the blood against the sides of the altar
that is at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 6Then he
shall flay the burnt offering and cut it into pieces, 7and
the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and arrange
wood on the fire. 8And Aaron’s sons the priests shall
arrange the pieces, the head, and the fat, on the wood that is on the
fire on the altar; 9but its entrails and its legs he shall
wash with water. And the priest shall burn all of it on the altar, as
a burnt offering, a food offering with a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
10“If
his gift for a burnt offering is from the flock, from the sheep or
goats, he shall bring a male without blemish, 11and he
shall kill it on the north side of the altar before the Lord, and
Aaron’s sons the priests shall throw its blood against the sides of
the altar. 12And he shall cut it into pieces, with its
head and its fat, and the priest shall arrange them on the wood that
is on the fire on the altar, 13but the entrails and the
legs he shall wash with water. And the priest shall offer all of it
and burn it on the altar; it is a burnt offering, a food offering
with a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
14“If
his offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall
bring his offering of turtledoves or pigeons. 15And the
priest shall bring it to the altar and wring off its head and burn it
on the altar. Its blood shall be drained out on the side of the
altar. 16He shall remove its crop with its contents and
cast it beside the altar on the east side, in the place for ashes.
17He shall tear it open by its wings, but shall not sever
it completely. And the priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood
that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering, a food offering with a
pleasing aroma to the Lord.
579 The
Law of God Is Good and Wise One Man Band
The
Law is good; but since the fall
Its holiness condemns us all;
It
dooms us for our sin to die
And has no pow’r to justify.
To
Jesus we for refuge flee,
Who from the curse has set us free,
And
humbly worship at His throne,
Saved by His grace through faith
alone.

Collect
Almighty
God, our heavenly Father, You desire not the death of a sinner, but
rather that we turn from our evil ways and live. Graciously spare us
those punishments which we by our sins have deserved, and grant us
always to serve You in holiness and pureness of living; through Jesus
Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the
Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Apostles'
Creed
C I
believe in God, the Father Almighty,
maker
of heaven and earth.
And
in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who
was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born
of the virgin Mary,
suffered
under Pontius Pilate,
was
crucified, died and was buried.
He
descended into hell.
The
third day He rose again from the dead.
He
ascended into heaven
and
sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From
thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I
believe in the Holy Spirit,
the
holy Christian Church,
the
communion of saints,
the
forgiveness of sins,
the
resurrection of the body,
and
the life T everlasting.
Amen.
The First
Petition
Hallowed
be Thy name.
Hallowed
be Your name.
What does this mean?
God's
name is certainly holy in itself, but we pray in this petition that
it may be kept holy among us also.
How is God's name kept holy?
God's
name is kept holy when the Word of God is taught in its truth and
purity, and we, as the children of God, also lead holy lives
according to it. Help us to do this, dear Father in heaven! But
anyone who teaches or lives contrary to God's Word profanes the name
of God among us. Protect us from this, heavenly Father!
Lord's
Prayer
C Our
Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Benediction
(Aaronic)
P The
Lord bless you and keep you.
The
Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.
The
Lord look upon you with favor and T give
you peace.
C Amen.
